Founder of ‘Prevention at Sea’ is Mr Petros N. Achtypis, holder of an MSc Diploma in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens in Greece. He graduated in 2003 ranking as one of the highest on the list. During his studies and his professional career, he showed a remarkable interest in the principals of the safety & prevention culture amongst management in Shipping. His involvement with the International Safety Management Code and the proper implementation of the Shipping Legislation commenced during his studies and continued throughout his career working for Shipping Companies assigned as the Designated Person Ashore and as the HSQE Manager afterwards. Mr. Achtypis holds an MLC 2006 Trainer/Inspector Certificate issued by the ILO, he is an IRCA certified Maritime Auditor and holds both ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Certificate. From the early stage of his career he has had the opportunity to take part and perform several audits of different field granting him a great experience in the auditing process. He has attended several seminars for Risk Assessment, Investigations, Port State Controls, Vetting etc. Through his cooperation with various Third Parties (Flags, P&Is, Class, Banks etc.) and considering the results of his work throughout his involvement in the Shipping Industry, he has earned a reputation of being a highly knowledgeable professional always operating with great precision and expertise.
Capt. Nikolas Verykios (consultant) brings into the Company over thirty years of experience. Capt. Verykios has served the industry as a Master Mariner with 20 years of seagoing experience in highly established companies such as Cerres Shipping and Carras Hellas S.A. Following his career at sea, he went on to undertake responsibilities of Operations Manager for a further ten years in Carras Hellas S.A. Throughout his career, Capt. Verykios has had the opportunity to come face to face and deal with all types of situations making him an industry expert combining practical on board experience with the theory implemented in the shipping industry. He has also had the opportunity to perform audits both on board vessels and ashore, as he is a certified ISM auditor allowing him to constantly cultivate his ISM culture and awareness.
Dr Vasilis P. Koutras (consultant) is a Lecturer at the Department of Financial and Management Engineering, University of the Aegean in Greece. Since 2010 he has worked as an adjunct professor at the Department of Financial and Management Engineering. His research interests include stochastic modeling of highly available and reliable systems, stochastic modeling of software rejuvenation, computer systems performability indicators, Markov and Semi-Markov processes, operations research. He is a senior researcher at the Reliability Engineering Laboratory (RELaboratory) at the Department of Financial and Management Engineering, University of the Aegean. From 10/2013 Academic Staff at the Hellenic Open University, School of Science & Technology, Post Graduate Program: Quality Assurance Msc, Course:DIP50 Basic Tools and Methods for Quality Control. He received his PhD diploma in Optimizing Performance and Dependability of Computer Systems: Software Rejuvenation Stochastic Modeling, from the Department of Financial and Management Engineering, University of the Aegean, his master degree in Mathematical Modeling in Physical Sciences and new Technologies, from the Department of Mathematics, University of the Aegean and his bachelor degree in Mathematics (Probability, Statistics & Operational Research) from the Department of Mathematics, University of Patras.
Our Maritime Team consists of Shipping Professionals with experience in various types of inspections and auditing. Our Shipping Professionals are certified as ISM/ISPS/ISO Lead Auditors by IACS members, and additionally they hold certification by the ILO as MLC 2006 Trainers/Inspectors. Through their simultaneous involvement and years of service in the Shipping Industry they are able to offer our clients extensive knowledge, efficient risk identification and effective evaluation governed by our set of standards.
Our Maritime Team is specialized in inspecting/surveying Vessels from different perspectives as well as in auditing the Ship Operators’ established procedures ensuring compliance with the International legislation and best management practices.
